– we’re just getting started.**Summary:**Facebook is seeking an Electrical Engineer to support Global Standards within the Data Center Design team.
In this role, you will support electrical engineering standardization from ideation through change management processes, ultimately influencing and implementing decisions within the standards library for implementation globally.Our data centers are the foundation upon which our software operates enabling innovation for the company.
Building and operating data centers the “right” way from the day they go live is synonymous with ensuring capacity availability and capital conservatism.
The data center design team approaches facility design from the chips on the server boards to the facility mechanical and electrical distribution systems which ensure and maximize efficiency of our compute infrastructure.
This position is full-time.The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a proven track record in team management and a strong background in all aspects of Electrical Engineering.
A thorough understanding of interdependent disciplines, such as mechanical and controls, is strongly desired.
This person shall be detail-oriented, possess strong organizational skills, and be a self-starter that can excel with little direction.**Required Skills:**1.
Manages global change management and standardization of electrical engineering related activities2.
Manages Global Standards documentation supporting the electrical engineering discipline3.
Support development of data center electrical infrastructure standards, including global execution strategy4.
Experience managing consultant scope, including authoring scope of work and developing proposals5.
Develop and update the design standards, specifications, and method of procedures (MOP) for consistency and maximum system reliability6.
Provide electrical mission critical system review services to local data center operations teams7.
Support the implementation of data center engineering and commissioning (Integrated System Test) for new data center concepts undergoing standardization8.
Travel (around 25%) to data center sites when needed for engineering studies, electrical systems audits, startup testing, and full commissioning9.
Participate in equipment failure or power outage related incident Root-Cause-Analysis (RCA)10.
Respond on an as-needed basis to emergencies**Minimum Qualifications:**11.
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, or related field12.
Electrical Professional Engineer registration13.
Experience creating technical standards for use within a portfolio of facilities14.
Experience in electrical engineering globally15.
Minimum of twelve (12) years professional experience in data center design, construction, operations, and maintenance16.
Knowledge of high voltage substation design, mission critical power distribution, UPS, PDU, Grounding, generator systems and Building Management System17.
Knowledge of industry standards, building codes and safety standards including NFPA, IBC, and IEEE18.
Familiar with construction process19.
Cross-discipline knowledge of complete critical facility systems20.
Experience with trouble shooting and problem solving21.
Experience providing solutions to complex projects under pressure22.
Effective communications skills, fluent in English23.
Familiar with AutoCAD, Visio, MS office, SKM software or other power system analytical programs and tools**Preferred Qualifications:**24.
Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field25.
Data center or Critical Facilities experience26.
IT and server hardware background27.
