Department Overview

The OHSU Knight Cardiovascular Institute is involved in dozens of cardiovascular clinical trials.

This means our patients have access to more treatments for cardiovascular conditions than anywhere else in Oregon.

We’re studying the risk factors for heart disease, cutting-edge treatments and prevention techniques, as well as the latest technology used to combat heart failure and genetic heart diseases.

Function/Duties of Position

Two positions are available.

The Knight Cardiovascular Institute Clinical Research Coordinator is responsible for many aspects of clinical trial coordination, from start-up to closing activities, protocol monitoring and maintaining FDA compliance.

Duties also include identifying potential subjects through chart review, discussion with investigator or other mechanisms; assists Principal Investigators or research nurses in the identification and eligibility of new protocol subjects; schedules, orders, communicates assessments and appointments.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree with major courses in field of research/science 1 to 3 years of experience relevant to patient care/clinical research Ability to prioritize multiple tasks at one time Must have excellent communication, analytical and organizational skills: both written and verbal Ability to work independently and as part of a team while being collaborative in resolving problems Proficiency with computers and Microsoft applications (Excel, Outlook, Access, Word, PowerPoint) Demonstrated excellent customer service skills both on the phone and in person Demonstrated ability to work with a variety of diverse individuals and personalities Must possess energy and drive to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously Ability to use tact and diplomacy to maintain effective working relationships
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree with coursework in Science At least one year of general office experience Knowledge of cardiology Knowledge of medical terminology Experience managing Access database or similar database Analytical skills, troubleshooting skills
