Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Job Summary

Performs major servicing and repairs on a variety of mechanical, electrical, electronic, powertrain, and hydraulic systems for vehicles, on and off road mining equipment and on-road dump trucks and concrete mixer trucks.

Responsibilities

Diagnose and repair all types of gas and diesel equipment, including, but not limited to, excavators, dozers, off-road trucks, wheel loaders, water & lube trucks, service trucks, pickups, dump trucks/trailers, mixer trucks, and other support equipment.
Troubleshoot, repair and replace ignition systems, fuel systems, hydraulic systems, lighting systems, electrical/computer control systems, radio systems and ABS brake system
Repair and overhaul engines, transmissions, differentials, PTO’s and axle assemblies
Perform welding and fabrication on mobile and stationary plant equipment as needed
Maintain service, maintenance and repair records
Repair and maintain shop tools and machinery
Prepare work orders and order parts in SAP business system
Provide technical assistance, direction and guidance to other shop employees.

Assist in the training of other shop employees to perform tasks efficiently and effectively.
Make emergency field repairs to dump trucks and concrete mixer trucks as needed
Safely perform repairs in the field during inclement weather
Education

High school diploma or GED

Requirements/Qualifications

3-5 years experience working in an industrial shop environment and repairing heavy mining equipment
Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
Able to operate vehicles and equipment for testing and troubleshooting before and after performing maintenance activities
Able to provide own tools
Proficient in Microsoft Office and general computer programs
Physical requirements: lifting up to 60 lbs., bending, stooping and stretching

Preferred:

Welding experience

Experience working with Visionlink
SAP experience
Mechanics Certifications
CAT SIS Program experience
