Job Description:Certified Nursing Assistant I
– CNA1 To provide patient and family care as part of the health care team in accordance with the mission, vision, and policies and procedures of Bay Area Hospital.

Working under the direction and supervision of the RN, provides care authorized by the OSBN for the CNA1.

Assists patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADL) while maintaining patient safety.

Full-Time Position (72 Hours Per Pay Period) Shift: 0700-1930 Days: Varied Wages Based Upon Experience CLOSING DATE: Open Until Filled POSITION SUMMARY To provide patient and family care as part of the health care team in accordance with the mission, vision, and policies and procedures of Bay Area Hospital.

Working under the direction and supervision of the RN, provides care authorized by the OSBN for the CNA1.

Assists patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADL) while maintaining patient safety.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Essential job requirements listed in bold ) * Works under the supervision and monitoring of a licensed nurse* Assists patients with ADLs (feeding, oral care, bathing, toileting, ambulating, and repositioning)* Obtains patient vital signs* Measures & records intake and output (I&O)* Documents appropriately in patient record* Answers patient calls* Assists with fall prevention* Assists with preventing pressure, friction, and shearing of patient skin* Observes and reports observations, information, changes, and concerns to the Registered Nurse* Maintains effective communication with patients, families, and coworkers* Maintains patient and environmental safety* 1:1 patient safety observation as needed* Gives clear, simple directions to patient, and reinforces teaching and orientation to the patient* Maintains and enforces strict patient confidentiality and respect patient and family rights* Performs other duties as assigned that are within OSBN CNA1 scope of practice and which are not duties that are exempted from performing at Bay Area Hospital SKILLS AND ABILITIES (Essential job requirements listed in bold ) * Maintains regular, consistent and punctual attendance at the assigned job location* Ability to recognize and report abnormal occurrences* Able to appropriately use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)* Knows the fire plan and escape routes for patient and self* Demonstrates competence by ongoing completion of any or all of the following:* Proficiency testing* Skill demonstration* Practice of core standards for service excellence* Provides patient care and performs tasks using job skills, growth, and development knowledge* Effective communication skills both verbally and written EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES/DEGREES (Essential job requirements listed in bold ) * American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) or must be obtained by the last day of the month after the 60-day grace period* Current certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant 1 in the State of Oregon* High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred EXPERIENCE (Essential job requirements listed in bold ) GENERAL INFORMATION Union Affiliation: UFCW The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position.
