Production Machinist

Purpose of Position Fabricates Production, Prototype, and R&D parts by setting up and operating a variety of precision machines.

Works to very close tolerances with minimal supervision.

Participates in the design & manufacturing of tools to enhance productivity and quality.

Job Core Responsibilities Perform precision machining on lathes, mills, and grind machines for tooling
– applying knowledge of basic shop math and machine layout procedures.

Set-up and run superior quality complex parts and maintain standard rates.

High mix, low volume supplier.

Use shop math to compute information relating to work such as, feeds, speeds, angles, tooling locations & missing dimensions.

Will program CNC lathes and mills.

Work from blueprints and rough sketches to produce tooling and machine parts in accordance with specifications.

May train other Machinists or act as back-up in Machinist Team Lead’s absence.

Must be able to stand in one place for long periods of time.

Ability to lift and carry up to 40 LBS and carry it up to 10 feet.

Considerable hand and wrist motions.

Will be required to wear safety glasses and steel toed shoes.

Ear protection as necessary or directed.

Job Specifications High school education or equivalent.

Associates Degree preferred.

– 8 years prior experience as a Machinist working on various jobs utilizing precision machines.

Working knowledge of SPC, JIT and TQM preferred.

Experience on lathes, mills, and grind machines.

Knowledge of different alloys.

Must be able to read blueprints and rough sketches.

Demonstrated working knowledge of GD&T.

Excellent math skills (including geometry & trigonometry).

Ability to follow verbal and written instructions in the English language.

Must be able to stand in one place for long periods of time.

Ability to lift and carry up to 40 LBS and carry it up to 10 feet.

Ear protection as necessary or directed.
