Job Title: Senior Technical Writer

Location: Portland, OR Fully Remote

Type: 9+ Month Contract to Hire

Ledgent Technology has partnered with a key employer in the Portland market for their open Senior Technical Writer role!

This will be a true Contract to Hire role and so there is the opportunity of conversion if successful within the duration of the contract!

Justification:

Our Client’s IT has identified a gap in their depth and accessibility in technical knowledge of critical workflows in their core applications.

They are bringing in a technical writer to help mitigate the issue by shoring up our documentation practices and creation of priority technical diagrams and documents around these key areas.

Scope of Work:

Planning (Phase 1)
– “Teach us how to fish”

· Stakeholder identification and analysis

· Meet with applicable team members to decide on a few things:

· Priority documents needing to be created (and templates for each)
– e.g.

runbooks, state diagrams, context diagrams, API/interface diagrams, entity relationship diagrams, data flow diagrams, data models

· Where will these be stored and maintained
– e.g.

confluence, SharePoint

· How, who, when will these be maintained
– e.g.

BSAs/engineers as a subtask in a sprint or after a release?

· Build work breakdown structure of work to support the CMS MIM epics/roadmap

Execution (Phase 2)
– “Take this diagramming work off the Engineers plates, please”

· Technical diagramming (state diagrams, API documentation, ERD) and writing (runbooks, end-user style documentation) of applicable documents identified in the planning phase

· Review and approval of artifacts from Leads and BSA and Engineering Leaders
