Responsibilities
Pay Scale: $36.79
– $56.28

Shift: 6:45 PM
– 7:15 AM

Core Schedule: Week 1 Tue, Fri, Sat; Week 2 Sun, Wed, Thu; Week 3 Mon, Fri, Sat; Week 4 Sun, Wed, Thu

Job Summary:

Provides support to the RNs, physicians and patients in the Progressive Care Unit.

Works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary health care team in providing timely, efficient patient care.

Essential Duties:
Provides support to nursing staff and physicians with special procedures including central line placement, chest tube placement, thoracentesis, paracentesis, bone marrow biopsies, lumbar punctures and other minor procedures performed in the patient’s room.

Provides IV therapy support by placing Powerglide lines and/or peripheral lines as needed.

Performs care of central lines including accessing/deaccessing mediports, dressing and tubing changes, troubleshooting and declotting of lines.

Aids the primary RN with patient admission, transfer or discharge process including medication reconciliation and patient/family education.

Completes initial wound assessments including photographs, measurements and treatment plan.

Assists with monthly skin audits for patients at high risk for skin breakdown.

Utilizes universal precautions in performing work.

Utilizes safety equipment in accordance with hospital policies to ensure safety needs are met.

Completes COBRA transfer process in Meditech and coordinates with primary nurse, charge nurse and house supervisor to facilitate transfer of patients to other facilities as ordered by the physician.

Coordinates with Charge RN for lunch and break coverage for staff and other needs of the unit.

Responds to disturbances, interruptions, and subtle and emergent changes in the work environment to minimize potential risks to the unit workflow.

Supports and promotes initiatives of service recovery and assures communication with appropriate follow-up.

Assists Clinical Coordinator and Charge RN with patient experience improvement activities and monitoring.

Takes patient assignment as needed.

Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications
License/Certification:
Current RN license issued by the State of Oregon.

BLS within 30 days of hire.

ACLS within 3 months of hire.

Experience:
2400 hours within the last 24 months as an RN in an acute care setting.

Powerglide Insertion competency within 6 months of hire.

Current competencies preferred.

Charge Nurse experience preferred.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in relating to public, peers and physicians.

Must be extremely self-motivated and team oriented.

Education:
Associates Degree in Nursing required.

BSN preferred.
