Engineering Project Manager in Portland , Oregon
The engineering Project Manager oversees internal/external customer project deliverables and is responsible for the coordination and completion of engineering projects.
The Project Manager is also responsible for tracking all cross-functional team (CFT) deliverables and for driving the resolution of any conflicts that may impact the success of any applicable project(s) launch.
This position’s goal is to improve internal and external communications, which will result in completion of projects per the original plan and meet or exceed customer expectations while keeping the product’s fiscal attributes in check.
Location: Portland, OR
Effectively partner with and lead CFT’s on associated projects and developments, ensuring all stakeholders are aware of individual and group responsibilities.
Develop, manage and maintain product development and project outline plans; clearly defining all key milestones, phase gate reviews and design reviews.
Facilitate regular CFT project meetings to review schedule, status, and issues.
Ensure maximum efforts and appropriate resources are applied to resolve conflicts and mitigate risks toward achieving project milestones.
Provide senior executives/management with regular status reports that identify schedule, revenue impacts and program issues.
As required, provide best practice advisement on how to deal with associated issues that may arise; effectively eliminating/reducing potentially adverse issues that may de-rail any on-going project(s).
Proactively identify opportunities for streamlining and improving project and other business processes; thereby reducing lag/ waste times.
Communicate effectively at a cross functional level including:
Daily interface with Program Manager on project updates, issues and forecasting.
Daily interface with Design Engineers on issues regarding workloads, prioritization and other project related issues.
Daily interface with the Materials Manager, Production Manager and the Logistics Analyst on issues regarding projects, timelines and other outstanding items.
Daily interface with the Quality Assurance on issues regarding on-going projects.
Daily interface with the Sales team on issues regarding product development, customer feedback and other project related issues.
Your Expertise:
Five to ten years of experience in a senior project management role, preferably in an automotive or manufacturing environment.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Proven ability to effectively provide leadership to team members in order to maintain objectives or facilitate countermeasures to realign project deliverables.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
Exposure to the cross-functional team approach to product development is also desired.
This position may require exposure to information that is subject to US export control regulations, i.e.
the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
