APPLY TODAY!This recruitment will be used to fill six (6) Limited Duration Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) positions with multiple cultural and language competencies to better represent and support our community for our COVID-19 Testing Program.Communicable Disease Services’ (CDS) mission is to promote and protect the health of individuals and communities in Multnomah County, we provide communicable disease prevention, treatment, screening and education services in collaboration with community partners.

Within CDS, the CMA will assist providers in conducting communicable disease evaluations, administer immunizations and injections, and perform communicable disease screening and assist with testing in a community/outreach setting.This recruitment will be used to fill the following vacancies:CMA with African American cultural competencyCMA with Pacific Islander cultural competencyCMA with Asian American cultural competencyCMA with Russian language competencyCMA with Spanish language competency(For positions with a Spanish or Russian language requirement testing is required.)What is the Role of the Medical Assistant?The Certified Medical Assistant provides clinical support for the provision of care in the Communicable Disease Program.

This position is part of a team that provides assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation, treatment, counseling, referral, and follow-up of individuals infected with communicable diseases.

These diseases may include TB, HIV and other STDs, COVID-19, and other communicable diseases as required.

The position supports screening, testing, evaluation, outreach activities and preventive therapy to targeted populations.

Some evening/weekend work will be required.

The position also has surge capacity responsibilities in communicable disease outbreak situations.

A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:Experience/Training: Requires graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant training program.Licenses: Certification through a nationally recognized Medical Assistant certification program, such as AAMA, AMT, NCCT or CCMA, is required.Certification: CPR certification is required (valid CPR certification must be provided upon hire)Depending upon assignment, candidates may be required to pass a criminal background check.Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate and valid State driver’s licenseFor positions with a language Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA): Testing is required.Required Knowledge, Skill and Ability (KSA): These positions require advanced knowledge of and/or extensive experience with any of the following communities:African AmericanPacific IslanderAsian AmericanThis would be demonstrated by knowledge of the traditions, values and customs of the community being served, as well as the ability to identify specific examples of experience working directly with individuals and families who identify with the African American, Pacific Islander or Asian American community/communities.Bilingual Spanish or Russian: These positions require advanced knowledge of and/or extensive experience with the Hispanic/Latino/Latinx and/or Russian communities.

This would be demonstrated by knowledge of the traditions, values and customs of the community being served, as well as the ability to identify specific examples of experience working directly with individuals and families who identify with the Hispanic/Latino/Latinx and Russian community.

In addition, these positions require the ability to speak, write and read fluently in both the Spanish and/or Russian and English languages.
