Multnomah County is looking for an IT Senior Database Administrator to be responsible for the design, development, tuning, maintenance and administrative of Enterprise SQL Server database environments. In this role, your primary focus will be on Database Administration, troubleshooting, maintenance and support Administer database components (i.e., containers, tablespaces, tables, indexes, views, etc.) for on-premise as well on cloud. Administer database security, monitor and correct space utilization. Design and implement physical and logical database backups and perform database restorations. Develop and maintain OS command scripts to support a variety of database maintenance activities Develop and schedule database maintenance jobs, Troubleshoot database problems which involves analyzing the problem, identifying alternative solutions, projecting the consequences of proposed actions and implementing a solution. Develop and schedule database maintenance jobs as well as analyze and troubleshoot problems, and implement solutions. Plan and execute database object migration between development, test and production environments Ensure compliance to promotion and deployment of applications to production environments following established promotion and change control processes. Coordinate with software developers and business analysts to provide input on data conversion, integration, and defect repairs. Perform installation, upgrades, patches for supported COTS applications and database software release. Database Architecture and Development Create architectural models and evaluate architecture, technology and product alternatives. Plan, define requirements, design, develop, and maintain logical and physical data models for complex decision support and transaction processing systems. Develop, maintain and optimize the most complex SQL statements and shared database objects across multiple DBMS platforms. Create and maintain jobs, dynamic database objects, tables, files, and indexes to support computer applications using SQL, functions, stored procedures, triggers and views. Design, build and deploy effective ETL solutions and provide maintenance, troubleshooting, support and performance improvements. Develop physical architecture for real-time data management designs and off-line repository stores. Interact with network administrators to ensure confidentiality, security, scalability, and recoverability of datadatabases. Database Performance Tuning and Standards Monitor performance, identify bottlenecks and recommend andor perform adjustments to optimize performance Automate the management of database server performance tuning and database life cycle utilizing database administration tools. Research software alternativesupgrades to improve security, performance, reliability, and recoverability of DBMS. Plan, coordinate, and perform software and database migration for software upgrades. Develop standards for metadata and interact with business analysts and application developers to ensure accuracy of metadata. Develop standards and procedures for data extraction, cleansing, and transformation to ensure statistically valid data. Project Management and Technical Assistance Collaborate with project managers and business users and assist in troubleshooting complex SQL statements and database problems Provide assistance with the installation of database client software Participate in data quality efforts and in architecture design Create or provide assistance with database models Perform manual and automated administration of web environments. Continuous Integration and Delivery Architect and design complex systems and processes to automate and script application specific build and deployment needs. Manage, plan, and coordinate system changes and deployments of those changes into support systems as needed. Develop and maintain automation scripts that are standard and reusable across applications. Administration of DevOps infrastructure and tools supporting the DevOps processes. Develop and maintain standards related to DevOps practices. Automate build, testing , and deployment tasks for custom applications, COTS applications, on-premise applications, and cloud applications. Minimum QualificationsTransferable Skills Bachelor’s degree (in lieu of degree, equivalent years of experience will be considered) 5 years of experience in IT development and database administration Advanced knowledge and experience of RDBMS management tools, including MS SQL Server Management Studio Installing, performance tuning, maintaining, securing and administering a MS SQL Server database environment Installing, performance tuning, maintaining, securing and administering a MS Integration Server (SSIS) environment Security, authorization and authentication in Microsoft Active Directory MS SQL Server backup and recovery design and implementation Developing on a SQL Server platform using Transact SQL (T-SQL) including stored procedures, query plans, functions, views, indexes and triggers Database modeling, data conversion and ETL tools such as SSIS Basic knowledge and experience of Microsoft Windows Server Administration Administrative Scripting (C, WMI, PowerShell, Rs Utility, MSBuild) MS Windows Server high availability technologies, Application Development, architectures, languages, andor tools Developing and managing database in cloud computing environment (Microsoft Azure) DevOps and CICD activities Ability to pass a criminal history record check Screening and Evaluation The Application Packet A completed online application.
