– BenefittednMeridian Park Medical Ctr campusn n Overview n n nn The Clinical Nurse Educator works in collaboration with unit leadership and Legacy Health Clinical Practice Support educational support structure to assess, plan, develop, implement, and evaluate clinical education, staff development activities and quality initiatives in the specialty unit or program area assigned.

Activities include planning and coordinating unit-based educational activities, participation in design and implementation of the LH clinical processes; competency assessment and education of nursing staff; assessment of staff learning needs; and assisting with leading quality initiatives.

Other activities will be defined by the unit leadership.

nn nn nn nn Legacy Meridian Park Medical Center is the South Metro area’s full-service medical center, with the friendly feel of a community hospital and the skill and services of a much larger medical center.

Among our specialties: stroke, chest pain, minimally invasive and robotic surgery, cancer care and orthopedic and total joint surgery.

Plus a birth center and breast health center.

nn nn nn nn The Medical Specialties Unit is located on the first, second, and third floor, units 1B, 2C, & 3D of Legacy Meridian Park Medical Center.

Number of beds: 40 beds, all private beds.

nn nn nn nn Primary patient population/diagnoses:1) Medical diagnoses, including, but not limited to:a) Cardiac diagnoses, including, but not limited to:(1) Stable patients with acute coronary syndrome(2) Stable patients with decompensated CHFb) Endocrine disorders, including, but not limited to, diabetesc) End-of-life care when transferring to home or an inpatient hospice setting is not realistic based on life expectancyd) GI disorders, including, but not limited to, Crone’s disease, obstructione) Neurological disorders, acute and chronic, including, but not limited to:(1) Brain injury(2) Multiple sclerosis(3) Seizure monitoring with EEG telemetry(4) Spinal cord injuryf) Oncology diagnoses, including, but not limited to:(1) Conditions related to the cancer, e.g.

chemotherapy, neutropenia, symptom management related to treatment, crisis management and/or pain control.(2) Specific care related to oncologic conditions and surgery.g) Pulmonary, including, but not limited to:(1) COPD(2) Respiratory isolationh) Psychiatric patients requiring acute medical intervention2) Overflow surgical patients as per surgical scope of service, room availability permitting nn n n Responsibilities n n nn The Clinical Nurse Educator works in collaboration with unit leadership and Legacy Health Clinical Practice Support educational support structure to assess, plan, develop, implement, and evaluate clinical education, staff development activities and quality initiatives in the specialty unit or program area assigned.

nn nn nn n n Qualifications n n nn Education: BSN required.

The BSN requirement may be met for current Legacy employees who demonstrate that they are actively enrolled in an accredited program and are making meaningful progress toward completion of a BSN.

Demonstrated evidence of course completion will be required at the end of each term, and will be tracked by the individual’s manager.

nn nn nn nn Experience: Two years of relevant clinical experience at proficient to expert level of practice required.

Demonstrated knowledge of adult learning principles as evidenced by the ability to facilitate learning for patients/families, nursing staff or other members of the healthcare team.

nn nn nn nn Knowledge/Skills: Highly effective teaching and communication skills.

Understands and applies adult learning principles.

Strong meeting facilitation and group process skills.

Ability to work effectively in teams, and independently.

Knowledge of Lean and quality improvement principles; ability to apply Lean and quality improvement process.

Demonstrated ability to collaborate with staff and leadership to implement change.
